Sandy High School Project

LOVETT, Inc. started its largest project to date for Geo Tility http://www.geotility.ca/ in Sandy, Oregon this year. The new Sandy High School, being built by Hoffman Construction (http://hoffmanshs.com/), required a geothermal/geoexchange system be installed to reduce the amount of energy used to heat and cool the high school. This system is part of Geo Tility’s low carbon solution for achieving a sustainable future.

LOVETT’s scope of work for the project began in April, 2011. LOVETT’s challenge was to use directional drilling to install 228,000 feet of 1 ¼” HDPE SDR 11 piping. The LOVETT team directionally drilled this piping underground at varying depths across thousands of feet of fields to achieve the required amount of piping to heat and cool the new campus facilities. The piping was then fused into a loop system that will recirculate fluid at ambient earth temperatures of 55 Degrees Fahrenheit. This recirculation will reduce the amount of energy demand required of a HVAC Pump needed to heat and cool air in the facilities.

The building project is scheduled for completion in time for Fall 2012 classes. The new geothermal/geoexchange ground source heating system is in the final stages of completion for the underground portion. Testing of the new system is tentatively scheduled for August 2011. Plumbing Tip

Q: What should I do if my toilet is clogged?

A: Firstly, it’s important to know what you absolutely should not do when you’ve got a blocked toilet, which is to flush it to try and clear the obstruction. Doing this could cause the toilet to overflow and flood the bathroom, causing damage which could push your repair bill even higher.

Instead, your first action should be to use a plunger to try to draw out the blockage and encourage it to progress through the pipes. You should push the plunger firmly down into the toilet then pull slowly upwards, creating vacuum in the head. You’ll often need to repeat this around ten times - you’ll know the blockage has been removed as you’ll hear water going down the pipes.

However, the blockage is proving stubborn; you may need to look into another course of action. Lovett can help; we have qualified drain technicians available 24/7 to respond to your toilet emergency. Call us anytime for service at 503-SERVICE (737-8423)

Transitional Youth Volunteer Day

See the Video

LOVETT, Inc. set a major goal for itself in 2011 to reach out to a charitable organization or volunteer in the community once a quarter. We knew that some volunteer work for charities or organizations would be one- time events and others would develop into long-term relationships.

Transitional Youth http://www.transitionalyouth.org/ looks like it will have a very long relationship with LOVETT and its employees.

Transitional Youth was founded by Bert Waugh Jr. and his wife Susy in 1991 to support homeless children. In the years since its inception, support for Transitional Youth has grown to the point opening staffed homes for homeless youth that have committed themselves to the process of sober and productive living. This program has dramatically changed the lives of the kids in the program. Education, sobriety, careers, faith, hope, and family are examples of the rewards the program creates opportunity for.

LOVETT became involved with Transitional Youth as a result of seeking the patronage of a local realtor. Because of that relationship, we were introduced to Bert Waugh Jr. After meeting Bert Lovett conducted numerous meetings, tours of the T.Y. facilities, and lots of reflection as a company on how to best support T.Y. The answer came in the form of a phone call from T.Y. staff requesting some plumbing estimates for one of their homes. Adam Ponce from LOVETT was dispatched out to take a look. What happened next was truly amazing. Adam saw an opportunity to ask LOVETT plumbing vendors to donate materials needed for the projects. Dale Lovett, owner of LOVETT, Inc., found out about the projects and made the decision to ask for volunteers from LOVETT to donate their time to complete the projects.

When all was said and done, LOVETT, Inc. was able to come up with nearly all donated materials from Mesher Plumbing Supply and Ferguson, Inc.
Nearly a dozen LOVETT employees showed up for the project. A new water heater was installed, a second set of washer/dryers were donated and installed, and various other small fixture repairs were completed. And to top it all off, PB&J sandwiches were had by all.

LOVETT was so grateful to be able to help Transitional Youth. All of us that participated that day were impacted by the power of Transitional Youth and the love that its founder and staff provide the kids in the program. A second volunteer day is currently in the planning stages and will be completed before the end of August 2011. The team at Transitional Youth demonstrate every day its tag line “Home is where the Start is”…..
